"Companies that advertise during a recession have
better sales than companies that don’t."

A study by McGraw-Hill of recessions in both 1974/75 and 1981/82 prove the long-range benefits of keeping a strong advertising presence. This study found that the more timid businesses that cut their ad spending increased sales only 19% between 1980 and 1985. However the companies that continued to advertise in 1981/82 enjoyed a whopping 275% increase over the same period.

Additionally a series of six studies conducted by the research firm on Meldrum and Fewsmith showed conclusively that advertising aggressively during a recession not only increases sales but also increases profits. That fact was also held true for every single post WWII recession studied by The American Business Press starting in 1949.

Study after study that reach all the way back to the mid 1920’s show the same results. The results are consistent, clear and unequivocal. Companies that advertise during a recession have better sales than companies that don’t.

As one major advertiser summed it up:

“When times are good, you should advertise.

When times are bad, you must advertise.”

However it is one thing to know the results and another to actually spend the money. Files should be in complete CMYK mode. Please either embed all files or attach all linked files.

Supported Software Applications

Preferred Applications: Adobe Illustrator CS3 or earlier, Photoshop CS3 or earlier, Sign-Lab 7.1 or earlier, Flexi-Sign Pro 8.1 or earlier.
Other Applications: Please export your files in a format that can be opened by the above applications OR a) in an EPS format OR b) if using CorelDraw, export as Adobe Illustrator (.ai)
We are primarily an Apple based design shop. PC files should have all text converted to curves, paths or outlines and contain a Mac preview if possible.
Text Where possible ALL text should be converted to outlines/paths/curves in your design software thus preventing your font inadvertently being replaced with a similar one.
Fonts Either convert ALL FONTS to curves/graphics or attach all relevant fonts including those used in supporting imported or placed files. Please note that Mac fonts usually comprise a printer font AND a screen font - we require both of these.
BLEED
Remember to include sufficient image area on all edges where images bleed (print over the edge)

Scale Please scale artwork to 100 dpi at final output size. If your design software can not handle final output size, scale to 50% and make a note of scale inside the file.
Special Colors
These need to be clearly indicated with Pantone Ref numbers - we will try to match as closely as possible, but be aware that some Pantone colors are not exactly achievable by the CMYK process. If precise color matching is essential, please request an actual printed proof for color verification. Proofs are $75 ea.

File Transfer Digital files can be sent by email up to a file size of 20Mb. If your file is larger than that, please contact us and we will send you a link to our FTP site.

Sending files to Image Graphics

Never send your original file. Always make a backup copy for reference.
Enclose a hard color copy of the file output. Non-Production .pdf or .jpeg files are acceptable. Files received without hard copies will incur a $25.00 verification charge and can result in production delays.
